As part of thier senior requirements, Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) students take our Capstone Course where they apply theory over two semesters working collaboratively to develop a competitive proposal summarizing their design and construction solutions. In an industry where women make up just 10.9% of the workforce, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the second week of March is designed to highlight those women and break down any barriers or misconceptions. It's the reason the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWiC) created Women in Construction Week back 1998. The Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC) alumni and industry partners played with a purpose at the 2021 Virginia Builders Foundation (VBF) Golf Tournament. The annual event, which took place on October 21, 2021, teed up $25,000 for student scholarships.
