Attention to safety, health and well-being is a core value of the School, core knowledge and skills for our students, and a primary area of industry partnerships.
Research projects are aimed at impacting safety outcomes that can help achieve national occupational safety and health goals. IC-SAFE, the Center for Innovation in Construction Health, Safety and Well-being is an MLSoC Center that focuses on seed funding through the Kevin Granata Pilot Program, and focuses on cultivating larger research projects and partnerships. The emphasis is applied research (solving industry problems), and promotes the practice-to-research-to-practice life-cycle.
Research is focused on all hazard types, all roles in the construction supply chain, and a range of methods and technologies. Expertise includes prevention through design, safety climate and culture, safety in automated and semi-automated systems, fall arrest systems, ergonomics and human factors, safety leadership, hazard identification, safety training, safety communication, safety tools, and more
