Join the Virginia Tech community for Giving Day, a 24-hour celebration of the Hokie Spirit and the power of giving back, starting at noon, EST, on February 24. Giving Day is a special opportunity for Virginia Tech students, employees, alumni, family, and friends to come together virtually and show their support for their favorite Virginia Tech departments, programs, student organizations, and teams. You choose where you want your gift to have an impact, and special challenges mean that your gift can go further and do more good than at any other time of the year.
The Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC) has proven to be a national leader in the construction industry. Our curriculum prioritizes improving the safety and health of workers, smart design and construction, sustainable and human-centric built environments, and infrastructure management. Our unique positioning in both the College of Engineering and the College of Architecture and Urban Studies provides greater opportunities for collaboration and impactful research.
MLSoC strives to provide experiential learning opportunities for every student. We believe these experiences enhance student learning by providing practical exposure and involvement, ultimately differentiating our students as they enter the industry. This includes international service-learning projects, regional and national academic events like competitions, and distinctive industry engagement – namely work site visits. We can deliver these value-based initiatives with the support of our donors.
How You Can Help
Your gift makes a difference and every gift to MLSoC on Giving Day matters. With your continued or first-time support, your generosity helps support these types of enrichment:
- $20 helps cover costs for Zoom room technology to enhance experiential learning in hybrid environments.
- $50 supports the development of recruitment materials (e.g. professional videos) to attract more students to pursue construction as a career of first-choice, most especially women and the underrepresented.
- $100 aids in creating new, or enhance existing, scholarship funds. Our students require more merit and need-based support to be successful.
Once you've made your gift, you can still spread the philanthropic spirit to your networks. Sign up to be a Giving Day Ambassador for MLSoC and tell your friends why you wanted to give. You can maximize your impact by inspiring others to give, too.
We are grateful for your partnership and support. It matters!
