Alumni Spotlight: Cosco Jones

Cosco Jones grew up in a neighborhood that was underserved and overlooked. This experience along with his interest in construction shaped him to pursue a career in residential energy efficiency and helping others live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Jones graduated from Norfolk State University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Building Construction Technology. From there he attended Virginia Tech, and graduated in 2009 with a Masters of Science in Building Construction and Science Management. While at Norfolk State, Jones interned with the South Hampton Roads Habitat for Humanity chapter where he discovered LEED and green building programs. His interest in those helped him narrow his focus while at Virginia Tech where he primarily studied residential energy efficiency and building science.

In 2012 Jones started his own company which he still operates to this day. Jones Sustainable Solutions Group is a sustainable lifestyle consulting company that specializes in residential energy efficiency. Consultants conduct inspections and assessments on homes and light commercial properties from energy and building performance perspective. This company allows Jones to assist individuals with lowering their total cost of living through energy efficiency.
