Center for Innovation in Construction Safety, Health, and Well-being
IC-SAFE
Providing national leadership for construction safety, health, and well-being through research, teaching, and engagement.
In May of 2014 the Center for Innovation in Construction Safety and Health Research transitioned from Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science (ICTAS) to the Myers Lawson School of Construction. As a result he Center is re-branding itself and expanding its focus to a broader and richer mission that increases is breath and service to the construction worker and the industry as a whole.
By redoubling our efforts and reinforcing our Mission the IC-SAFE Center will improve construction worker safety, health, and well-being by connecting and integrating industry, education, and research. Our goal is to reduce the risk of injuries and fatalities for American construction workers, and to improve their well-being. The Center established a practice-to-research-to-practice (p2r2p) life-cycle for research such that pragmatic and measurable results do not trade-off against productivity or profitability. Our aim to serve and protect the diverse "whole" industry and supply chain through faculty, graduate and undergraduate discovery; student-centric service learning, curricular and extracurricular learning; collaborative industry and worker engagement to produce outcome-based results. The specific aims of IC-SAFE is to:
• Support the Industry and students with the delivery of a robust, collaborative research program, funded externally, through multi- inter- and trans-disciplinary faculty, graduate, undergraduate, and institutional discovery.
• Deliver research-derived innovation, and respective outreach through industry and worker engagement for outcome-based results.
• Enable the learning of future industry leaders through student-centric service learning, curricular and extracurricular learning.
• Seed emerging discovery, learning, and engagement issues and exploratory concepts through the Kevin Granata Pilot Project Program
