The Virginia Tech Myers-Lawson School of Construction Industry Board BC subcommittee, made up of Building Construction alumni, will host annual events to raise funds specifically for a Building Construction faculty position. This fall 2008, BC subcommittee members are planning a September 14th event that will include a Golf Tournament at Pete Dye River Course, Radford, Va., a wine tasting tour (for non-golfers) at Chateau Morrisette (www.chateaumorrisette.com), a dinner and awards banquet at the VT INN, and a breakfast gathering in Bishop-Favrao Hall. Detailed information about the event can be viewed here. This event is intended to begin the process of raising seed money for a new tenure-track faculty position. With a growing student population and the need for offering classes more frequently, the Building Construction department is in need for a new faculty line. This will help alleviate the teaching load on existing faculty, provide an opportunity to teach more offerings, and reduce faculty-student ratio for enhanced learning and interaction.
