Ms. Glenda Young and her advisor, Dr. Denise Simmons, attend reception at President Steger’s home, The Grove

The reception was hosted by President Charles W. Steger, Vice President and Dean for Graduate Education Karen P. DePauw and Senior Vice President and Provost Mark McNamee. The event was held February 4, 2014. The annual reception recognizes outstanding graduate students committed to advancing knowledge through research scholarship and leadership, as well as the organizations that reward those achievements.

Young, a Gates Millennium Scholar, research interests are in applying lean principles to engineering education and is currently assisting Dr. Simmons with her NSF CAREER Award entitled: "CAREER: Investigating Co-Curricular Participation of Students Underrepresented in Engineering."
