The Service-Learning Center invites undergraduates from across the university to prepare proposals that advance university-community partnerships for grant funding from the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation's Academic Service Entrepreneur Grant for Campus-Community Collaboration.
Virginia Tech has been selected to present two grants from the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation to students whose proposals indicate the most innovative and promising use of $1,000 in grant funding to establish or significantly further a partnership between the student, Virginia Tech, and a community non-profit organization. Administered by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation, this grant is sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, and seeks to foster academic service-learning at American colleges and universities. The due date for Virginia Tech applicants is February 1st, 2008. Proposals are submitted to the Service-Learning Center. A panel of reviewers from within the university will read the applications, and select the winning proposals. The awards will be presented by the Virginia Tech Service-Learning Center at its annual Expo Event on April 24th, 2008. Contact Michele James-Deramo at deramo@vt.edu to receive a pdf file explaining application criteria and procedures that can be circulated to students in your area. The Service-Learning Center is also recruiting faculty to serve on the selection panel. Contact Kathleen Arceneaux at karcx@vt.edu if you wish to be considered for the selection panel.
